Australian Beef Production Soars in February
AUSTRALIA - Australian beef and veal production rose sharply in February, with a three per cent rise year-on-year, to 187,871 tonnes cwt.

This surge has been driven by a six per cent rise in adult slaughter, which reached 655,000 head for the month, according to Meat and Livestock Australia.
MLA said that slaughter was up across all states, with Queensland increasing by four per cent year-on-year, at 299,000 head.
New South Wales was up by three per cent, at 139,000 head, while slaughter in Victoria hit 130,000 head, an annual rise of 12 per cent. Production reflected slaughter, with Queensland (89,422 tonnes cwt) increasing by one per cent year-on-year.
New South Wales with 41,003 tonnes cwt was up by two per cent, while Victoria with 33,596 tonnes cwt increased by 10 per cent over the same period.
Driven by an increase in cattle slaughtered in store condition and a seven per cent year-on-year rise in female slaughter during February, average adult carcase weights slipped by two per cent from the corresponding period last year, to average 282kg/head.
