New Repellent Could Prevent Schamallenberg Spread
UK - A new product is the first-of-its-kind which can reputedly repel the Culicoides midge, which spreads Schmallenberg, from sheep, cattle, goats, horses and domestic animals.

The Culiocides midge is the biting insect most strongly associated with the spread of Bluetongue, Schmallenberg virus and the equine diseases Sweet Itch and African Horse Sickness.
The manufacturers, Agropharm Limited, claim that Neem Pro Riddance can give long term protection as an anti-feedant, with some repellancy effect, against flying semi-permanent parasites such as midges, blow flies and head flies.

Neem Pro Riddance:
- is a 1 litre concentrate that is sufficient for 100 sheep;
- is suitable for organic farm systems (check with your organic accreditation before use);
- protect animals from being bitten (rather than killing the insect after the bite has infected the animal)
- is suitable for use on sheep, cattle, goats, horses and domestic animals;
- contains one per cent Azadirachtin (extracted form Neem Oil);
- effective against the vectors of Schmallenberg virus;
- effective against vectors of Blowfly strike;
- effective for up to 10 weeks;
- product is in stock and ready for despatch;
- is available in 1 litre squeeze and pour bottles.
