The Chosunilbo reports that Until recently pork topped the list, making up about half of all meat sales from 2003 to 2010.

The foot-and-mouth disease outbreak had a devastating impact on livestock farms early this year, and some 3.31 million pigs were culled, decreasing their number by about 30 per cent.

Many farm households replaced them with cattle, pushing the number of heads of cattle up by about 20 per cent this year.
