Korea Beef Demand Levels Out
SOUTH KOREA - Australian beef exports from 1-18 April totalled 7,225 tonnes swt, with chilled beef making up 28 per cent of total shipments (DAFF) - although it is anticipated that April's shipments will fall below the very high volumes from the two previous months. During the first three months of 2011 Korea imported 14 per cent more Australian beef compared to the same period last year.
Australian exporters reported that Korean importer demand is relatively slow at the moment - as the market is experiencing high stock levels. Average prices for imported beef cuts eased across the board this week, while some cuts were left unquoted due to large value differences.
