One More FMD Outbreak In South Korea

SOUTH KOREA - A further outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) has been confirmed in South Korea.

The first case of FMD was confirmed in South Korea on 21 April 2010. Since then there have been a number of reported cases. The latest in the Ch'ungch'ong-namdo region, has resulted in 20 cattle been destroyed.

The case was confirmed after a farmer found a suspicious case which had profuse salivation and reduced appetite. The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that the case was FMD on 7 May.

All cattle on the farm and within a 500m radius were culled.
